The Limits of Usury
nothing is forever
by Blonde Ulv
Usury is one of the most destructive forces in which mankind has ever dabbled. It topples empires, bleeds the wealthy dry, funds deleterious expeditions, and is even an affront to God. It is so pernicious because it acts in such a way that acts long term and focuses on the macro. And if one knows anything of human nature, it is not focused on the long term, nor the macro. As such, usury might as well be nonexistent to the unaware, all up until everything is falling apart.
But that falling apart is precisely when the limits of usury are reached. In practical terms it is when people can no longer afford payments on debts owed. That is the time when men who recognize what has transpired are then able to attempt to grab hold the reigns and erect systems and organizations of which might stave off the next cycle of usurious catastrophe.
What is the most straightforward and least societally-devastating way of dealing with the problem of debt that can’t be paid? Jubilee. The forgiveness and erasure of debt. It’s really that simple.
Who objects to a jubilee? Those who control the debt, idiots, and boomers. In other words, the evil slavers, the stupid and mathematically illiterate, and the most wicked generation to ever exist. If you would like to be counted among their number, go ahead and defend the enslavement of mankind. Be my guest.
This has happened throughout history. But it is mostly done when the elite who reign in the debtors are of the same people as the enslaved. When this check is no longer in play, we get the alternative scenario of dealing with the problem of debt, which is societal collapse.
Collapse occurs when the debtors hold the enslavement of their subjects as a higher priority than their prosperity. They wish to hold onto the debt uber alles and essentially create a class of slaves that does all their bidding. If this becomes overt enough, collapse follows shortly after as the slaves realize they are able to alter their life course. But when it is hidden, the mathematical inevitability of debt payments exceeding income forces the issue. Math always wins.
Well-read readers might be familiar with the 80 year cycle, which is essentially the debt cycle. Look back on history and notice the pattern of about 80 years separating major events such as wars, famine, economic collapse. This is no accident or happenstance. It’s just what happens when debt is allowed to run its natural course with no course correction or guardrails. And we are due for one right about now.
The good news is that this was inevitable, nothing you could have done would have prevented it. The bad news is it is gonna be painful. The West’s debt is being held by non-Westerners, who hate them, want them as slaves or worse, and will never willingly relinquish their ill-gotten gains. Buckle up, buttercup. We’re in for a wild ride.
