The problem with Sydney Sweeney is that she is a return to the drenching of overt sexuality that led us to this place of complete rejection of sexuality—mainly by young girls.
Whether they acknowledge it or not, most young girls when they are in their blossoming years, are afraid of sex and sexuality. It kind of makes your tummy hurt.
Girls need to be taught to be women. The Bible makes this very clear in Titus 2:3-5
3 Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. 4 Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children, 5 to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God.
And for the past 70 years or so western culture has presented a warped dichotomy of what a woman is. A woman was a sex object. Promiscuity was pushed onto girls as a natural thing. And so you ended up, with exceptions, with two general types of girls. Whores and fraus.
About half of girls pushed through their discomfort and embraced being nothing but walking sex. While the other half rejected sexuality all together. They embraced “alternate beauty standards,” aka ugliness. They chose lesbianism as a political act, or an act of rebellion or because the gays “accepted” them, in a way the mainstream did not.
This is obviously generalization. There are always exceptions.
In any event, the Sidney Sweeneys, the Emily Ratjakowskis, I feel sorry for them. Their entire sense of self, whether they realize it or not, is built on being a hot girl. Ever since those breasts developed, they were the girl who the world saw as hot. But we all get old. And hotness goes away.
Blessed am I for the gift of being very ordinary. Because my looks were never my identity. Yet even I grieve the fact that I looked better in my youth.
This is why the former hot girls turn their faces into abominations via Botox and plastic surgery. Abomination is preferable to her, than looking old.
Because being hot might not be all she is, but it is who she is at her core. It is the foundation everything else is built on. If she’s no longer hot, the foundation shatters, and all else falls.
To you hot girls out there, your attractiveness is a gift, but it can a curse. If you invert it, if you worship it, if you make it your foundation instead of Christ, the shifting sands will come.
Consider Proverbs 31: 10 -12, 28-30
10 A wife of noble character who can find?
She is worth far more than rubies.
11 Her husband has full confidence in her
and lacks nothing of value.
12 She brings him good, not harm,
all the days of her life.
28 Her children arise and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praises her:
29 “Many women do noble things,
but you surpass them all.”
30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;
but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.
You are more than what you look like. And if you bless only your husband with your body, you will be so much happier. You are more than your body. Your body does not belong to the world.
And a return to the overt sexualization of women will only result in a boomerang effect on our society. We’ll still have generation after generation of lost girls, and our culture will have nothing to show for it but whiplash and despair.
Wow, I can’t wait to share this. Thank you!
